Born in Mexico City, Cheryl grew up in the multicultural and multilingual family of a researcher engineer/pianist, Among other things, she has been PR director for a chain of high-end restaurants; singer, writer & photographer; reservations manager for various hotels; Bengal tiger trainer & large species vet assistant; editor-in-chief for a newspaper in Acapulco; head of digital production for the National University of Mexico; and freelance information architect & web developer. She lived in Brazil, Acapulco and Cuernavaca, traveled in North America, Europe and the Middle East, and visited Yelapa year after year since 1960, until she made it her permanent home almost 9 years ago. In 2005 she was part of the developing team for a brand new project called Yelapa Oasis, under the direction of Pierre Gendron from Québec, and was irrevocably touched by it. In her own words, “I felt as deeply honored back then as I do now, for this chance to be ‘back home’, loving and taking care of this blessed site.” Cheryl speaks Spanish, English, Portuguese & French, and is now re-learning Lakota. |
